When children and teenagers learn to meditate in a fun way they are learning a valuable life lesson. Meditation teaches children to be able to focus while relaxing the body. This skill can be applied to everyday situations helping them to build their resilience thus keeping stress or anxiety to a minimum and they learn to apply that focus to task that they need to complete.
Boundary exercises teaches children and teenagers to read their own body comfort levels, something that seems lost in this day an age with all the gadgets and less face to face time. Fun exercises teach valuable knowledge that allows them to know when they are comfortable with others in their own personal space and to understand other peoples space. They also learn about the horses space and how it is different to ours. This teaches respect for themselves, others and the animals. Egg and Horse, well you will just have to wait and see what happens with that game.
Brushing/grooming allows the child/teenager to connect with another being in a very beautiful way, encourages healthy relationships. Horses have amazing abilities to draw shy children out and to help the enthusiastic child to self regulate to allow harmony between the horse and child.
Picking up the poops teaches children the significance of chores and being an essential member of the team. It allows them to feel helpful thus feel respected and important. Don't worry, that will only be a very small part and participation is by choice. (I highly recommend the book "How much is enough" by Jean Illsley Clarke Ph.D)
All these skills are taught in a fun manner while connecting with horses which helps build Self Mastery by using only age appropriate exercises.
Parents are welcome to stay. A common shared area under the pergola will be available.
Children under 9yrs by negotiation due to concentration levels.
All participates must wear closed in shoes and have hair tied back.
